Nadine’s first birthday party

Image

One of our wedding stylists celebrated her daughter’s first birthday in April and she’s more than happy to share the photos and decor with everyone. Here’s what Amy has to say!

Amy:

” Having been a stylist for many couples’ weddings, brainstorming on ideas, conceptualising the theme and decor details has been a rewarding experience for me. When April was looming near, I knew that there was no way I could shortchange my daughter’s birthday decor/details even though I was busy with work! Perhaps it has become an occupational hazard that I found it a “need” to always beautify places/things and to dream of the potential look that a venue can have.

My husband and I  decided (read: I MADE it his idea too) on an owl theme. Most of you may be wondering, why an owl theme and not some cutesy cartoon characters instead? And so, the story goes like this…. Ever since Nadine was born, she’s had difficulty settling to sleep at night. There were various explanations that suggest that she had colic at night, the aircon temperature was either too cold, too hot, blah blah blah…. and the list goes on. What was only obvious to me and my husband was that we were soooo tired due to the lack of sleep, tending to her cries, taking turns to carry her until she fell asleep in our arms only to be woken up again after we’ve placed her in her cot!! She was DEFINITELY nocturnal like an owl!

Image

On some nights, we were relieved when she fell asleep at 8pm (like most children do), but our relief was short-lived when she decided to wake up at 12am! For that period of time, 12am was like the magic number as she would be so awake after that and can last till 3-4am before she felt sleepy again. That’s powernap for Nadine, while I felt like Cinder-gila (crazy).

Image

This erractic sleeping pattern persisted for 8-9 months until she suddenly began to sleep more soundly throughout the night, lasting for 9-10 hours each time before she would wake up for milk. Family and friends who knew of this situation rejoiced with us too! That joyous feeling was so immense, it felt way much better than receiving a prize.

Our reasons for celebrating her first birthday does not only indicate that she’s reached a milestone in her life, but it is also a celebration for us as parents, having persevered and for keeping it together. Despite the sleepless nights, I have no regrets as Nadine is a precious gift from God. Watching her grow and progress has only spurred me on to give her the best. The love, joy and laughter that she has brought into the family is truly a blessing and she has taught me to be selfless, especially to the people I love.”

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord. The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Psalm 127:3

Vineyard theme

When blissful brides approached us to do up a photo shoot for Paradise group, we were more happy to do so because their food is really yummy! This was for their new catering line called One Paradise. It was a joint collaboration with Spaboutique for the venue, as well as House of Mini for the desserts.

When we first visited Spaboutique to check out the place in order to determine the theme, the vineyard theme (which we’ve always wanted to do) was the first thing that came to mind as this was the ideal place.

Although it was a combination of a colonial setting plus an outdoor balinese feel, the vineyard theme seemed right as there was a lot of woody element. We’ve never imagined that there could be such a serene and relaxing place nestled near the bustling orchard/tanglin area.

Each and every step of planning and conceptualisation/styling made our hearts beat a little faster in excitement! We’re so happy to have Lydia from D’zign for you to capture our work again coz she rocks!!  Here’s some of the pictures to share with all of you and a lil more on our facebook page.

Organised by Blissful Brides

Nicholas & Sharon

Nicholas & Sharon approached us to style their ROM solemnisation venue at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. It was for a small group of 40-45 close friends and family members. Since Sharon loves Hello Kitty, she requested for us to use pink and incorporate some elements of Hello Kitty into the decor.

We’re glad that they entrusted the whole styling to us, giving us the freehand to decorate the venue! See our facebook page for more photos!

On a side note: I love the Dim Sum at Imperial Treasure, located within the hotel itself! A friend from Hong Kong affirms that it IS one of the better ones that you can find it Singapore. Go try it if you have a love for Dim Sum! Speaking of which, I’m drooling already 😛

Wilfred & Wendy

We are still coming to grips with the fact that it’s already Feb 2012…. How did time fly by so quickly? Well, I guess this happens when one is having too much fun! In our case, it’d have to be the excitement and joy in styling our clients’ weddings. Indeed, 2011 has been an eventful one for us and we know that God will bless us with so much more in 2012!

Here’s a pic to share from our last wedding in 2011 during the Christmas period.

Wilfred and Wendy came to us with a specific theme in mind {Vintage Christmas}. We were so delighted to brainstorm for ideas and craft the wedding decor! On the day of the wedding at Shutters, Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa, we were so pleasantly surprised to see their guests dressed so aptly in support of the vintage Christmas theme. Gorgeous people in stylish outfits. Fascinator hats galore. A feast for the eyes! Haha.

It was at this wedding that we met a cool photographer, Darryl of Dazza Pictures. Check out his amazing work {here!} We can’t wait to view the photos that he’s captured!

The most memorable part of this wedding was when an assistant executive housekeeper, Lester Ho came to us and requested for some of the tulle pomanders. He was in charge of the wedding buggies in the hotel and would like to beautify them with our pomanders as he found them pretty. How could we refuse such a request?  This man’s passion in his humble job struck a chord with us and it made us smile 🙂 Awesome end to 2011!

Emma turns 2!

Our clients chose to celebrate their lovely little girl’s second birthday in a cosy, intimate fashion with their close friends in the comfort of their own home. We proposed the use of vibrant colours and small blooms in tins that were wrapped with patterned paper.

We love how our stamps turned out on the paper cups! We’re really happy that we’re able to focus on the details and nitty gritty of this birthday party.

A huge thank you to Emma’s parents!

Jean’s 21st Birthday Bash

The birthday girl requested for us to work with ‘pink’ and wanted the venue to look sweet and pretty.

Ordinary stuff in a not so ordinary style

The bride’s hanger twisted to spell “Mrs Liang”

“Yes” ring pillow. You can DIY this too! Try the words “We do”.

Materials can be bought from Daiso or spotlight. All you need is a wooden chip block, paint, brush and a steady hand 🙂

Instead of having the brothers or groomsmen wear floral boutonniere, why not try something like a military badge, especially if the groom’s an officer.

Look into this website for more ideas!

Glow in the lace

A luminaria is a small light or lantern (commonly a candle set in some sand inside a paper bag) which is of significance among New World Hispanics at Christmas time. Traditional Christmas Eve luminarias are made from brown paper bags weighted down with sand and illuminated from within by a lit candle. These are typically arranged in rows to create large and elaborate displays. (Info from Wikipedia)

Why don’t you try making some for a simple yet classy DIY wedding decor? Instructions from the brilliant lady!

To have-and-to FOLD

Being the scrapbook enthusiasts we are, we’re thrilled to find such a simple yet great idea  (via here!) for brides and grooms to DIY. One can co-ordinate the overall wedding decor with personalized placemats for their guests. What an ingenious idea to cut a triangle-shaped pop-out on the top right hand corner of the scrapbook placemat to replace a name placecard!

But of course, such personalized touches work better in small, cosy and intimate weddings.

Places where you can get these pattern papers from:

  • Laines Papeterie (Wheelock Place)
  • Made with Love (Plaza Singapura)
  • Paper Market (Raffles city shopping centre, Plaza Singapura)

We hope that you’ll discover more pretty stuff as you visit these mega scrapbook stores! Get ready to spend hours “Ooh-ing & Aah-ing” over the numerous scrapbook collections *wink*

Till the next post,

Cheerios
